Visit some of our local food producers in the field along with experts. Hear about how the WAI Action Groups are supporting change at pace through connection, collaboration and taking a whole of catchment approach. From riparian planting, water monitoring, soil health, to carbon sequestration, these visits cover the multi-scapes that make up our rural landscape. Whether you are an urban / rural / peri rural dweller these visits will connect you with the farmers journeys towards best practice in action and show how farmers are able to regenerate our environment and get highly nutritional, healthy food on our plates.
There are a few options for this event depending on the time you have. All visits begin at Criffel Station Woolshed. In the full day field tour runs from 8.30am and finishes up at 5pm. In addition to Criffel Station, you will get to visit four other working farms in the Cardrona valley, Matukituki and Hāwea and with lunch included and prepared for you at an idyllic location on the shores of Lake Hāwea.
The half day tours start at 8.30am and 1pm at Criffel Station Woolshed. After discovering what’s going on at Criffel, you will visit two other working stations. Great option if you are time poor and only have a half day available.
You will receive a map with the farms you will be visiting upon registration at Criffel Station Woolshed. Make sure you arrive with enough time to register. We will be sending out more information via email closer to the time. When you buy tickets, just make sure you tick the box saying you will share your details with us so that we can contact you.
The visits are set up as a self driving tour as we would like to make sure we can do these, whether we are in level 1 or level 2 COVID restrictions. If you are going in a group, make sure you carshare to minimise carbon miles!
The RESET Summit is a six day annual event held in the Southern Lakes District. Its aim is to educate, inspire and enable our transition as a community and nation to a healthy, thriving, diverse, carbon zero community. Events may be subject to restrictions with respect to numbers due to COVID-19. If we do need to reduce numbers, those who booked tickets first will have priority bookings. Spaces are limited so please book in advance.
